The purpose of the Friends organization is to provide support for the Washington County Public Library by providing materials and equipment which would otherwise be unavailable, assisting the library staff in its programs and making our citizens aware of the important role the public library plays in our community.
Welcome Michael Lister!
The Friends of the Library will meet at noon on Thursday, March 4th, at the Blue Lake Community Center on Highway 77 in Chipley.
Wewahitchka's Michael Lister will review his new suspense novel, DOUBLE EXPOSURE. Lister's main character, wildlife photographer Remington James, goes deep into the river swamp to try some new photography equipment. While checking his camera traps, scanning images of deer, bats and foxes, Remington comes across the frame- by- frame capture of a shocking crime.
By exposing the criminal, Remington has “exposed himself”. He must do two things: make it through the night and make it to the river---and the odds of doing either are slim to none.
Michael is donating all the profits from his novel, DOUBLE EXPOSURE, to environmental protection of the Apalachicola River Basin where the plot is set. This is Lister's third visit to Friends. Everyone is invited to attend!
Make your lunch reservations by calling Rosa Nell Baxley at 638-1470, or Pam Butler at 638-0204, by noon on Monday, March 1, 2010. The cost of the meal is $7.00. Be ready to let her know which number sandwich and drink you would like. If you cannot find your menu, please contact a Friend. The meal is being catered again by Boar-Deli, and includes a six inch sub, chips, pickle, drink and dessert
Game night on Thursday the 11th was a big success, thanks to all the members of Friends. There were 128 people in attendance with many comments on what a good time they had and please have game night more often as it was a great time of fellowship.
As of the 15th, a total of $1,370.00 has been given to Mr. Dick Miller, the treasurer.
As chairman I would like to thank each and everyone for helping make this an enjoyable and profitable event!
The March 9th book discussion group selection will be “ The Orbital Road,” by AC Tillyer. The plot centers around ‘Spinners’, a diary of fatal situations, on the orbital road.
